Channel guide
Instagram for a new business
Instagram works best for visual businesses (food, beauty, retail, creative, trades before/after). Keep setup simple and consistent.
1. Switch to a professional account
- Use a business or creator account linked to a Facebook Page if you can
- Same display name as your Google / website brand
- Profile photo = clear logo or face
2. Write a bio that sells
- Line 1: who you help + suburb/city
- Line 2: offer or proof (“Licensed electrician · North Brisbane”)
- Line 3: CTA (“Book via link” / “Free quote”)
- Link in bio: website, booking page or Linktree-style page
3. Highlights to pin
- Services / Menu / Prices
- Reviews
- FAQs
- About / Team
- How to book
4. A realistic posting rhythm
- Start with 3 feed posts per week OR 5 Stories
- Mix: proof (before/after), offer, tip, personality
- Batch on one day so you’re not inventing content daily
Need ideas? Use the content idea generator.
5. What to avoid early
- Buying followers
- Posting only hard-sell offers
- Inconsistent branding (different names everywhere)
- Ignoring DMs and comments
